Boise, ID- Republican nominee for Idaho’s 1st Congressional District, Rep. Raul Labrador was invited by the RNC to lead a nationwide conference call today to discuss economic issues with hundreds of small business owners.

Labrador commented in a prepared statement, “We discussed the real issues that are important to business owners and all Americans. Small businesses are the backbone of the economy and we all agreed that less government red-tape and reducing the burden of taxes on businesses is one of the keys to economic recovery. We talked about the economy and creating jobs. We spoke a lot about how the Obama/Pelosi agenda has hurt their businesses and what a GOP led Congress would do to change that.

The conference call comes on the heels of a recent trip to Kansas City, Missouri where Labrador was introduced by Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele at a breakfast for RNC State Chairmen, National Committeemen, and National Committeewomen. Also, at the Kansas City meetings, Labrador participated in the RNC Breaking New Grounds Candidates Panel where they discussed the Republican Party and it’s outreach efforts to voters.

Labrador concluded, “I am overwhelmed by the support of the Idaho Republican Party, The Republican National Committee, and the NRCC. We are all working well together to build a grass-roots team that will achieve victory in November, and restore fiscal sanity to the U.S. Congress.”

Minnick Shows His Progressive Colors

By John Anderson

Recently a number of Congressman Minnick’s constituents took him to task on the issue of signing on to Congressman King’s petition to repeal “Obamacare”. Mr. Minnick takes every opportunity to tell Idahoans that he voted against this ridiculous and unconstitutional piece of legislation, so we thought it only appropriate that he join with Republicans, as a “so-called Moderate Democrat” in demanding the repeal of the law. The response we received from Congressman Minnick was both predictable and telling. It’s a classic case of the “Potomac Two-Step”, agreeing with the constituent and then shrinking from a principled position in order to accommodate his political loyalties.

To wit, Congressman Minnick said, in his response to me (others as well), “Like you, I do not believe that the bill passed by Congress was the right approach to reforming our health care system. It does little to address the underlying problems in our health care system that have caused premiums to increase at an unsustainable rate, bankrupting Idaho families and stifling smallbusinesses, and will add billions of dollars to our national debt.” However, he immediately pivots to his progressive and cowardly political roots to say this; “However, that bill did pass and was signed into law. I understand that you support repealing the bill in its entirety. I do not believe that it will be possible to fully repeal the bill. Even if a bill to repeal the law were able to pass Congress, the President would still have the authority to veto the legislation. I believe a better approach is to fix the portions that are fiscally -unsustainable and improve the cost controls to provide the relief that the American people desperately need.”

Walt? May I call you Walt? Exactly which portions of this monstrosity would you “fix”? Would you eliminate the oppressive “Healthcare Exchange” that creates a massive and unaccountable federal bureaucracy that is designed to put private insurance companies out of business and dictate to citizens what they can buy? That, Walt, is the German model of course. By the way, it’s bankrupting Germany and they are moving away from it. To add a touch of reality to this statement, I spent over 22 years working for a German healthcare company, who’s German employees are taxed, in total, at about 60-70% of their income for this verysame government healthcare model. I asked one how he selected his physician, once he selected a plan. His response; “We just look for the shortest line”. Gee, Walt, perhaps there is a lesson in that candor. Would you eliminate the approximately 16,000 new IRS employees who will now be tasked with hounding American citizens to make sure that we comply with an unconstitutional law that requires, for the first time in American history, that a citizen must buy something from a private company or be fined or imprisoned? Given your professed fiscal conservativism, and the fact that federal employees make, on average, $20-$30,000 dollars more in salary and benefits than their private sector counterpart, do you think that adding another 16,000 of these arrogant and intrusive bureaucrats is good money management? Would you eliminate the massive latitude that the Secretary of DHS has been given to ration healthcare (It’s in the bill, Walt. Read it for yourself)? Given that the Medicare/Medicaid administrators have openly said this new healthcare reform will bankrupt both of these programs and states, rather than “save money”, as you, Reid, Pelosi and Obama promised it would, how exactly would you fix this massive power grab? Now that we are beginning to see a couple of states using the fuzzy language in the law to use taxpayer money to fund abortions, exactly how would you fix that?

Would you now want to add the Stupak Amendment, which mirrored the Hyde Amendment that for 30 years, prevented this use of our money to take the life of the unborn? We doubt that, since you voted against the Stupak Amendment during the legislative process, didn’t you? President Obama’s “Executive Order” to prevent this doesn’t seem to be working. Gee, what a surprise.

We can go on, but alas, what for? The reality is this. Walt Minnick only voted “NO” on this bill because his vote was not needed to pass it originally. When Pelosi and Planned Parenthood needed Walt’s vote to stop the Stupak Amendment, he voted with the Speaker and abortion clinics. When Pelosi needed Walt’s vote to move this bill to the floor, in a process called “Cloture”, Walt dutifully complied with his orders and voted “YES”. The reality of Walt Minnick is painfully clear. He is a classic progressive, liberal Democrat that has been hijacked by socialists and Marxists, and the moderate voices of the past within the Democratic Party have become an anecdote in history. Walt Minnick is not a moderate. Walt Minnick is a true progressive and his response to us on the “Obamacare” issue is proof positive that this is true. Oh, and Walt, to your point that because Obama might veto any repeal of the bill, you can’t sign on to Kings petition, we offer this perspective. If more “moderate Democrats who felt this law was the wrong one for America, would align with Republicans to reverse it, Obama’s veto could not be sustained. Alas, the repeal petition is a principled position, win or lose. Your weak and insincere response to our legitimate request is an insult to us and we reject it, Sir.

The corrupt, socialist agenda of this President and this Democratic majority represents a clear and present danger to American liberty and free enterprise. You have chosen to stand with Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the socialists within your party, rather than with Americans and the Constitution you took an oath to protect and defend.

You need to be removed from office in November and I, for one, will be at the poles early.

Weeding Out “Minnick Myths”:Let’s Take A Look At His History (video)

with 4 comments

By Bill Hurst, more hard-hitting facts about Idaho’s Liberal Democrat, posing as a conservative…..destroying the “Minnick Myths”

Special thanks to Terresa Monroe-Hamilton for her contributions to “Weeding Out “Minnick Myths” and the use of  her blog article Walt Minnick Idaho’s Stealth Progressive [Liberal] Terresa is a contributor to KeyWiki.

Tea Party members’ dissatisfaction crosses party lines, because it is mainly a populist uprising against the ineptitude of our government. The liberal-socialist trends starting as far back as, maybe further, Grover Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson era. Then marching through Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency and fueled again with Lyndon B. Johnson and his “Great Society.” The “Social Programs” enacted over the last 115 years have slowly burdened the middle and upper classes in the United States to a breaking point.  The silent majority–grassroots, taxpaying, hardworking Americans have the onerous task of shouldering the load of the voracious needs of the Federal Government.

Government continues status-quo with infinite process of social-welfare programs that are an endless dole to people and foreign  countries on a grand scale,  that  puts the United States in debt by over 13 Trillion Dollars!

These social programs have no expectation of improving ones quality of life or motivating people or nations to a self-sufficient and productive livelihood. You also have an “out of control” flood of illegal immigrants adding to the drag on the social-welfare system, jobs lost to the base laborer and law enforcement issues. The administration of these programs have taken on a life of its own, it is called “Massive Federal Bureaucracy” costing the taxpayers millions if not billions of dollar per year to support.

Then to top it off we have another enormous program called “Socialized Medicine” introduced by the new liberal-socialist guard.  Now upon us come the Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dobbs, H. Clinton and other liberals’ greatest era. This being ushered in by Bill Clinton, Al-Gore, and the late Ted Kennedy, as the linking force between the two liberal-socialist administrations.  The frustration of an “out of control” government has led to the groundswell movements and actions by blue-collar workers and lower level white-collar workers with conservative values.

Larry Pegg, a grass-roots activist, states

“What you read or what you saw on T.V. would make you angry enough maybe to ‘call foul’ to a few friends but, not angry enough to, stop and write a letter to your Congressman, study issues, The Constitution, or really get very involved in politics…some people even stopped voting altogether because they felt it didn’t  make any difference who was in ‘power’” Pegg continues “Then these people found themselves with a crumbling economy and high unemployment. All of a sudden  finding themselves regretting their passive past.  Seeing now they should have been more involved, educated about governmental affairs and politics. People like myself are forming study groups and getting involved in the process. Not all Republicans can call themselves “conservative” and have a  big role in the downward spiral.”

Terresa Monroe-Hamilton lamented,

“It was with a sinking heart and something akin to grief that I heard the Tea Party Express endorse Walt Minnick here in Idaho. It should be noted that the Tea Party Express is not the actual Tea Party of Idaho – they are located in Boise and do not support Minnick.” Later she calls for Tea Party Express to consider:

“It was my understanding that the Tea Party movement is about more than fiscal issues. It goes to the heart of the corruption and malaise infecting our government – we have to remove the Progressive element from American government or our government will turn into a tyrannical thug that will enslave the American people and turn us into a form of government that will strangle our freedoms and ring the death knell of the Constitution and our founding principles.

I respectively ask the Tea Party Express to reconsider their endorsement of Walt Minnick.”

Monroe-Hamilton continues…..

“I am thoroughly puzzled at the Tea Party Express endorsement of Minnick. While Minnick would appear to be the most conservative of the Democrats I have seen, he is still a [Liberal] Progressive. Minnick has had numerous stances that I consider to be [Liberal] Progressive in nature and is supported by [Liberal] Progressive groups in Idaho.

He is strongly supported by the Unions in Idaho. This would include the Teamsters, the Teachers’ Union (NEA), the Carpenters & Joiners Union and a list of others as well.

Protector of Idaho Wolves: Wolf (Liberal Minnick) in sheep=disguise (posing as conservative)

Minnick was a donor to Earthjustice, a legal group that uses litigation to force far left environmental policies through the courts, while destroying good paying jobs. Earthjustice is a non-profit public interest law firm, (formerly the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund). In Earthjustice’s 2003 annual report, Minnick was listed as being a member of their “Advocates Circle,” their mid-level donor membership level.

He is a strong environmentalist and he is pro-choice with a strong record supporting NARAL and Planned Parenthood. Minnick served on the Governing Board of The Wilderness Society for 16 years as well.

Wolves Not Right For Idaho

Minnick has strong ties to Congressman Steny Hoyer. Hoyer has contributed substantially to Minnick’s campaigns through AMERIPAC: The Fund for a Greater America.

He seems to be getting contributions from the left and the right, but there are some heavy players on the left that give to Walt Minnick including the law firm of Arnold & Porter, LLP which is a left-wing law firm from DC. If you follow the ties that bind, this firm is connected to individuals such as Charles Halpern, Sarah Bloom Raskin, Thurman Arnold and Jeremy Karpatkin. He also receives funds from ActBlue.”

As pointed out in previous articles by this author, Minnick voted for both Nancy Pelosi as speaker in 2008, stating that he will continue to support her as, speaker and Charles Rangel per the party line for the Democrats. Idahoans should know Liberal Minnick, posing as a conservative, voted against the resolution to remove Rangel as chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee for ethics violations and against the Republican Study Committee’s (RSC’s) blueprint to restrain spending and to cut the budget.

Minnick has voted with the Democrats 72% of the time. After taking office, Minnick joined the Blue Dog Coalition of House Democrats As stated in the article “Debunkin….Walt Minnick is a “Blue Dog Democrat”

Second Amendment

Walt Minnick is quoted as owning 7 guns. He is also an avid hunter by all accounts.

Minnick received a D+ from the NRA in 2008 in response to his answers on their 27-question survey. Minnick is backed by the liberal Maryland-based American Hunters and Shooters Association, which is an association that supports the banning of certain firearms and does not support the Second Amendment as implemented by the Constitution. They believe in government regulation and control. They are a liberal group advocating gun control on arms that are not strictly for hunting or recreation and they are extremely pro-conservation and pro-environment.

Minnick, posing as a conservative, has issued conflicting statements on gun control. First he is against it: “I think guns are part of our American culture,” Idaho’s liberal said earlier last month. “There is no one more opposed to gun control than I am.”

Then he is for it – from the NRA: The survey included this question: “The NRA opposes gun bans as a violation of both the Second Amendment and common sense. (However, fully automatic firearms, short-barreled shotguns and certain ‘destructive devices’ are currently very strictly regulated.) Which of the following statements best describes your opinion about banning firearms?”

Minnick, an NRA member, wrote “firearms with no legitimate sporting or recreational use should be banned.” Andrew Arulanandam, an NRA spokesman in Virginia and a former Idaho GOP state director, said that answer won Minnick the poor rating.

Minnick’s answers did conform with the NRA’s stance opposing registration, federal licensing and waiting periods. His answers also showed he was backing the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2008 decision to overturn a Washington, D.C. handgun ban. However, Minnick does support the Brady Bill.

Illegal Immigration

In 2008, Minnick compared the border fence being built along the Southern Border to the Berlin Wall. He also called for a path to normalization for illegal immigrants which is basically amnesty.

Although he calls for secure borders, Minnick has attempted to avoid until recently immigration as an issue and did not put it on his platform. He has made some statements in favor of a path to citizenship, but when an organization called the Club for Truth accused Minnick of being soft on illegal immigration, his spokesman, John Foster responded:

“Walt’s position on immigration has been consistent from the beginning, and it’s that we need to secure the borders, send troops to the borders if necessary. Everyone who’s failed a background check needs to be deported immediately, the remainder needs to pay a fine and move to the back of the line for legal immigration.”

This position mirrors President Obama’s current stance that if you are here illegally, you don’t need to be deported as long as you pass a background check and pay a fine. After doing this, you will receive one form of amnesty or another. This is the liberal stance on illegal immigration. Minnick continues to be what you want him to be so he can deceive the citizens of Idaho perpetuating “Minnick Myths”

Serve America Act

Minnick voted in favor of instituting National Service as a new social invention. The H.R. 1388: Serve America Act (Mar 2009). Following is a summary of this liberal piece of legislation:

  • Authorizes funding to promote, operate and expand service-learning programs in elementary and secondary schools through training, curriculum development, program assessment methods and community outreach (Sec. 1201).
  • Allows the Secretary of Education to designate up to 25 Campuses of Service, or institutions of higher education where service-learning is an important component of the curriculum to receive a government award to develop or disseminate service-learning models (Sec. 1203).
  • Establishes Youth Engagement Zones to involve middle and high school students in community service, including Summer of Service programs (Sec. 1204).
  • Expands AmeriCorps openings over 8 years, allowing for up to 250,000 AmeriCorps volunteers by fiscal year 2017 (Sec. 1301).
  • Establishes the Education Corps to improve schools, the Healthy Futures Corps to serve unmet health needs within communities, the Clean Energy Corps to work on energy projects, the Veterans Corps to work with veterans and their families, and the Opportunity Corps to work with the economically disadvantaged (Sec. 1302).
  • Raises the amount of the full-time national service educational award to the maximum amount of a Federal Pell Grant (Sec. 1404).
  • Aims to increase the percentage of disadvantaged youths in the National Civilian Community Corps to over 50% by 2012 (Sec. 1503).
  • Expands the National Civilian Community Corps mission to include projects on energy conservation, environmental stewardship or conservation, infrastructure improvement, urban and rural development or disaster preparedness needs (Sec. 1506).
  • Establishes the Serve America Fellowship to assist with areas of national need, as determined by the State Commissions on National and Community Service (Sec. 1805, 1606).
  • Establishes Silver Scholarships and Encore Fellowships and expands the Foster Grandparent Program, Senior Companion Program Grants, and the National Senior Service Corps to encourage community or national service among citizens age 55 and older (Secs. 1805, 2142, 2143, 2144, 2145).
  • Establishes the Social Innovation Fund, National Service Programs Clearinghouse and Volunteer Generation Fund to help local groups train, develop and maintain volunteers (Secs. 1807, 1808).

Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009

Walt Minnick voted for H.R.4173 – Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009. Here is a quick summary of this legislation in the article  “Exposing a “Minnick Myth”

Terresa Monroe-Hamilton concludes:

“After reading this, you have to ask yourself (especially if you live in Idaho), why is the Tea Party Express endorsing a Progressive Democrat? Someone told me that the Conservatives were Progressive as well. I have seen no evidence of that in what little research I have done so far. And even if it were true, it would be better to pull someone from the Conservative rank and file than endorse someone just because he voted the right way on a few fiscal issues.”

Idaho's Liberal Congressman Minnick, Posing As A Conservative

As stated previously Idaho’s Liberal Congressman has changed his mind on several occasions to fit his very conservative Idaho constituents.  When Liberal Minnick is in Idaho he wants to portray a conservative agenda, when he goes back to Washington D.C. When in fact he aligns himself with the liberal establishment. When you look behind Walt Minnick you see all his liberal friends. It is amazing how liberals can say or do anything that may not be acceptable in any circles and they can get away with it! His positions are riddled with contradictions, Liberal Minnick says one thing and does another.   “Well they didn’t mean it like that.” Rush Limbaugh, quoting the liberal press if one of their liberal politician or Hollywood buddies misspeak or They are  just were “Role Playing.”   Idahoans, this is serious business, do not be mislead by the liberal press and fall for the “Minnick Myths.” This will just give us more of the Liberal-Socialist path that our government has taken over 100 years, a path that will end in sadness and despair. Truth must be repeated and again, as error is constantly being preached round about.  Right is right, when you look at the ages of history you find that the conservative agenda and form of government has provided  fertile opportunities for personal growth, prosperous business claimant, and a highly educated population. All social needs are taken care of by a loving and God worshiping people.

Idaho’s proven conservative leader is Raul Labrador, he will fight; to strengthen our economy,  for new jobs, to protect the taxpayer from an over burdensome social programs and the wasteful bureaucratic spending. Labrador knows The Proper Role Of Government.  Help stop the “Liberal-Socialist” take over of America and  Please Donate Today!

Idahoans do your part to Take Back Idaho’s 1st Congressional District from the liberal-socialistic free fall!

Raul Labrador A Conservative Leader

Raul Labrador Idaho's 1st Congressional District Conservative Candidate

Labrador for Idaho

Raul is one of the leading conservatives in the Idaho Legislature. Elected in 2006 to a seat in the Idaho House of Representatives, Raul has been a clear and consistent advocate for Idaho values.

In the Legislature, Raul took the lead in fighting against efforts to raise the gas tax. Recognizing that tax cuts stimulate and help grow Idaho’s economy, Raul proposed comprehensive tax relief for Idaho’s families and businesses. In fact, on nearly every issue important to conservatives, Raul Labrador has been a leader in the Idaho Legislature.

Raul is the only candidate for Congress with a proven record of consistently standing up for our values. He is the rare politician who stands up and fights for what’s right. He knows his chief responsibility as a public servant is to protect the taxpayers, not the special interests. He has kept his promises to his legislative constituents and will keep his promises to you in Congress. More than ever, we need his strong conservative leadership in Congress.

It began with one Sheriff speaking with other Sheriffs about their oaths to uphold the constitution. A new movement is growing in this country in support of limited government, constitutional principles, states rights and a stronger role for sheriffs to play against federal abuse of power. In this 3-part video interview with Tony DeMeo, Sheriff of Nye County, Nevada, he explains that he is a Constitutional Sheriff and that authority for public office holders is derived from the people:

http://www.infowars.com/constitutiona…

In his own words Sheriff Tony DeMeo describes an incident where federal agents of the BLM threaten him with arrest while the Sheriff issues his own threats of an armed response if illegal seizures of private property in his county continue. Imagine if BLM authorities went ahead with their “normal” operations of seizing cattle found on public property in direct opposition to Sheriff Tony DeMeo warnings? We would witness a standoff with dire consequences.

Elected sheriffs are the top law enforcement officer of the county. I may have issues with our local sheriff however, I respect his law enforcement authority with the county.

Now remember, I said county -elected- authority given by the state constitution!

Oh yes, remember Ruby-Ridge? If the local sheriff would have handled the situation lives would have been spared. “Support your local Sheriff!”

Facing Ethics Charges, Rep. Waters Points Finger at Bush Administration (FoxNews)

Facing Ethics Charges, Rep. Waters Points Finger at Bush Administration

Embattled Rep. Maxine Waters on Friday blamed the Bush administration for her ethics problems — saying she had to intervene with the Treasury Department on behalf of minority-owned banks seeking federal bailout funds — including one tied to her husband — because the Treasury Department wouldn’t schedule its own appointments.

The California Democrat said in a Capitol Hill news conference — an event rarely held during a congressional recess — that she reached out to then-Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson in late 2008 when his department failed to respond to the National Bank Association’s request for a meeting.

“The question at this point should not be why I called Secretary Paulson, but why I had to,” she said. “The question at this point should be why a trade association representing over 100 minority banks could not get a meeting at the height of the crisis.”

But the House ethics committee, which is investigating Waters for allegedly improperly using her position for personal gain, says in its report of charges that when the meeting was held, the officers of only one bank came — OneUnited.

That’s a problem for Waters since her husband, Sidney Williams, served as a member of OneUnited’s board of directors from January 2004 until April 2008, and was a stockholder in the bank.

OneUnited eventually got $12 million of the $50 million in bailout money it requested, enough to keep the bank afloat. The ethics panel says that kept Waters’ family stock from becoming worthless, which the committee says shows that she personally benefited by using her office.

Waters said she wasn’t concerned about her husband’s stocks in the bank, which were worth about $350,000 at the time and which her husband still owns, if only because he can’t unload them.  “No one wants to buy them,” she said.

Waters said the media need to distinguish between making a call on behalf of one bank and making a call for an entire trade association. She added that even Paulson told the ethics committee that she never approached his office to speak about only one bank.

“When Paulson responded as a witness, he didn’t tell anybody I called him and asked for a meeting with OneUnited,” she said.

The 10-term representative from Los Angeles, insisted that she hasn’t done anything to violate House rules, and she “will not cut a deal.”

“I am teetering on a border here. What I am doing here is rare and unprecedented. I won’t go behind closed doors,” she said.

Waters pushed for a speedy trial, slamming the ethics committee for not setting a date for the hearing.

“Such a delay is unacceptable, considering that the investigation has dragged on for almost one year,” she said. “It does not provide due process.”

She added that neither her staff nor she “engaged in any improper behavior.”

“We did not influence anyone and we did not gain any benefit,” she said, reading from a written statement.

Waters, who holds a senior position on the Financial Services Committee, is the second prominent Democrat lawmaker facing ethics charges during a fiery election season. New York Rep. Charles Rangel of New York is facing 13 charges, including failing to disclose assets and income and delayed payment of federal taxes.
